The World Wide Web Is Now Over 30 Years Old

It was over 30 years ago that the fantastic World Wide Web (www.) went public and changed all of our lives, hopefully for the better forever. Billions of people use this amazing tool to improve their lives in many ways and we wonder how we ever managed without it. Especially for lottery players who love to play the biggest international lotto games from all over the world.

Sir Tim Berners In 1990, 30 years ago, a British physics graduate Sir Tim Berners Lee, was working as a software engineer at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland and he developed the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) which was a huge contribution to how we navigate and view the Internet and he also created the ‘www’ suffix we’re all familiar with today.

The World Wide Web has also created a whole new generation of internet companies that make amazing operating systems, intricate applications, fantastic games, many types of media players and lots of other useful additions that help make our lives easier.

There were a few suspected glitches at the end of 1999 going into the year 2000 when many people were worried the internet would crash due to the millennium clock/calendar change from the 1900s to the 2000s. Everyone’s fears proved to be unfounded after it all transitioned smoothly. Banks didn’t lose their money, no aircraft groundings were necessary and the world just carried on as usual.

In the last fifteen or so years, social media has risen very fast and has become the mouthpiece of everyone who wants to have their say or communicate with friends and loved ones with uploaded photos of their daily lives and video diaries etc. Even governments, politicians and many businesses worldwide have harnessed these powerful tools to promote themselves to a much bigger audience which in turn has made these social media companies into huge empires in their own right generated from their massive advertising revenue.

This internet world we live in has incorporated another phenomenal success, the mobile or cellphone with the introduction of the ‘smartphone’ that is now a mini-computer, a camera, a radio receiver, a music centre, a remote control, and you can remotely check the CCTV cameras at home while you’re away. It’s also an online banking centre and a messaging tool that has full access to the internet in most places around the world.

The fact that you can access the internet with your cellphone or computer, it is possible to play any lottery from anywhere in the world. How many millionaires were created by using a cellphone to play a lottery and win a jackpot around the globe? It boggles the mind the things you can do on the internet. How did we survive without this phenomenal addition to our lives?

The world wide web is 30 years old

Right now the whole world is in the middle of the COVID-19 coronavirus lockdown where we are all confined to our houses while we wait patiently for the virus to flatten its curve so we can get back to our normal lives. Thank goodness that we are lucky enough to have the internet and are able to see our loved ones and friends face to face anywhere on the planet via FaceTime or Skype or other online mediums.

During this lockdown, nobody except essential and emergency services are allowed out of their homes. It’s been an especially trying time for school children as they also have to remain at home as well but fortunately, the internet has come to the rescue by allowing children to continue their schoolwork while they are at home. The world has come to a stop but then again it hasn’t thanks to the World Wide Web.

The internet also gives us all instant updates of any news from around the world so we know of the progress we are making against this virus.
It is also possible to completely control your house from your cellphone, laptop or computer such as opening and closing blinds and curtains, switching lights on and off and controlling many other home appliances via the internet.

One of the biggest changes to people’s lifestyles is online shopping such as food, books, clothing, shoes etc. You can buy most things online these days and it has had an impact on the High Street and mall shops causing many to have to close down.

While they are closing down, companies like Amazon have flourished with this new way of shopping making the owner the richest man in the world. Many retailers have now followed suit by offering online sales which has managed to stop them going bankrupt.

One important function that should be investigated is our online lottery company that provides access to all the best lotteries around the world at the click of a mouse.

Before we had the internet, most people had to walk to their local retailer or petrol station to purchase their lottery tickets and it was only available in their own country. Now you can play any lottery in the world, thanks to the amazing internet.

We think the internet is just about the coolest invention in the last 30 years and wonder what it will bring us all in the next 30 years.

Good luck playing one of our fabulous lottery jackpots.
